I wrote this song last weekend called “The Boogie Ship”, and recorded it 5 minutes ago on my iMac mic.
Inspired by some words Zack wrote on a piece of paper 3 or 4 years ago.
—————————————
i saw a crystal chandelier one time, it had a yellow light inside
and if you looked at it just right, god spat a loogie in your eye
the feeling it inserted was like a knife into the spleen
and it left you on the shoreline feeling sparkly and clean
boogie fuckin’ woogie as i walk into the sea
with an oatmeal raisin cookie, and a black and white tv
i’ve slid down ladders climbed up slides
in the origin of god’s design
i found a lyric stuck in my throat
my face turned blue as i began to choke
woke up leaving on this boat
are you ready to go now?
and as we roll along this voyage, both tedious and long
it’s a comfort to know that all the prophecies were wrong
and all the drunkards in the barroom are still drinking like they should
on this ship of glowing wonder they are puking on the wood
boogie fuckin’ woogie as i walk into the sea
with an oatmeal raisin cookie and a black and white tv
the wind it stinks like rotting flesh
the waves they pound, our bodies crash
there’s a pearl inside the minds of those who seek
might slip away the moment that you speak
so maybe this time you really just shouldn’t speak at all
go to sleep now,
are you going to sleep now?
